hi pauline - my friend is trying to get into poetry (and reading in general) but hasn't really read much, and i was wondering if you know any poems/poets that are good for a beginner?
firstfullmoon replied:oh man I remember the first thrills of poetry creeping up on me. here is a list of good poems for beginners that have been sweeping me off my feet for years and will hopefully do the same to your friend. most poets mentioned here are really great for beginners in my opinion so feel free to explore more of their works
The entire, original handwritten manuscript of Anne of Green Gables is now available to page through online - thanks to a scholar from Duluth, Minnesota. Read all about it in the News Tribune.

at the end of the day it’s you. it’s you who has to make sure that you’re okay. it’s you who has to hold yourself. it’s you who has to decided to keep going. sure making some tea will make you feel okay but you really do have to make sure you’re okay. you have to keep holding on and keep trying, it’s hard out here, I know that. it’s you and you can do it. you can do whatever you want to do because you are strong and you’ve made it so far

phoenixphinkshe/theys be like "yoooo pass the aux lemme play some bangers" and put on some song that sounds like it was contrived by a ragtag band of little woodland creatures with sticks and rocks

when noah kahan said "drive slowly. i know every route in this county. maybe that ain't such a bad thing? i'll tell you where not to speed." and when he said "why am i so obsessive? hangin on to every sentence? this town's the same as u left it; your page was blank but i read it!" and when he said "honey come over, the party's gone slower n no one will tempt you - we know you got sober. there's orange juice in the kitchen, bought for the children. it's yours if you want it. we're just glad you could visit." and when he said "oh, this town's for the record now! the intersection got a target and they're calling it downtown." and when he said "i got dreams but i can't make myself believe them, spend the rest of my life with what could have been, and i will die in the house that i grew up in."
If I could leave, I would've already left, I would've already left. [x]
when noah kahan said "i hope this pain's just passing through" and "someday i'm gonna be somebody people want" and when he said "i'm still angry at my parents for what their parents did to them" and "i'm in the business of losing your interest and i turn a profit each time that we speak" and "i'm terrified that i might never have met me" and "i saw the end it looked just like the middle" and when he said "now the pain's different it still exists it just escapes different"
